 What is Coaching?

People seek out a coach when they want to take their life to the next level. When they want to make changes or improvements in their professional or personal lives. A life coach  serves as an unbiased yet unconditionally supportive third party, you will see more options sooner and realize much more about yourself and what you are capable of then you could ever see alone.  You can then use these realizations to see other possibilities, choose one and you are on your way.

There are many reasons. For instance, you might consider looking for one if you:

  • Don't know what to do about a major life decision, such as a move or promotion

  • Have a lot of stress

What are the differences between Coaching and Counseling?

 

Coaching is primarily focused on the present and on moving forward into the future.  It is based on the premise that clients are empowered and ready to take on their life..  The relationship is intended to be a partnership, with the coach providing a mirror or a person without an agenda having conversation and inquiring.  This allows clients to gain their own new insights and perspectives and to move forward past barriers, habits or behaviours that have limited or stopped them in the past.  It is based on the knowledge that clients are much more likely to follow through and succeed with solutions that they have arrived at themselves.

 

Counselling is typically focused on the past and is intended to break up issues or traumatic events that are blocking the client from moving forward in their lives.  It is often based on a diagnosis or concern.  The counsellor-client relationship typically takes the form of an expert and a patient. (I am not a counselor, although I can suggest several to you if that’s what you are looking for)

 

What Is a Life Coach?

These professionals provide the drive and guidance their clients need to improve their careers, relationships, and lives. They help clients to:

  • Recognize their skills and dreams

  • Refocus their life's goals

  • Move past challenges that stand in the way of those goals

  • Help remove barriers and obstacles

  • Hold clients accountable goals

What Is a Wellness Coach?

They help their clients find the motivation and tools to get to their physical and emotional health goals.

Those goals might include:

  • Lose a few pounds

  • Eat better

  • Gain more energy

  • Lower stress

 

As a life coach how long do you work with your clients?
